WHAT ARE TURBO TOYS?
Turbo Toys components includes all of the components needed to install a intercooler sprayer, a high octane mode switch, and a dial-a-boost switch.
Intercooler Sprayer
The intercooler sprayers increase the efficiency of the intercooler and reduce charge air temperature, resulting in increased engine performance. The blue indicator lamp will illuminate whenever the system is spraying.
The four fine mist water spray nozzles attached to the front mounted intercooler are activated by the 3-position blue rocker switch located on the TurboToys bezel. The three intercooler spray system modes are defined as follows:
Off - No spraying will occur in the off position.
Auto - This mode uses an algorithm in the PCM to optimize charge air cooling with minimum use of fluid. The PCM monitors vehicle speed, ambient air temperature, charge air temperature, and throttle position to determine when to spray the intercooler.
Manual -This mode is activated when the switch is fully pressed down. The result is a constant spray of water upon demand. The sprayers will stay on continuously while the switch is held down and will remain on for a short time after the switch is released.
NOTE: Distilled water is the recommended fluid for the intercooler sprayers. Use of the intercooler spray system is not recommended in driving conditions that warrant use of washer solvent.
Dial-A-Boost Switch
This feature lets you manage boost on demand by adjusting the 4-position thumb wheel located on the Turbo Toys bezel. Through boost torque management, engine output can be optimized for the best launch and drivability in conditions varying from the sticky launch pad at the drag strip to snow covered pavement.
The thumb wheel can be set to the following four positions:
Position 3 - This position provides the highest boost level with torque management optimized for traction limit with high grip tires.
Position 2 - This position provides the highest boost level with torque management optimized for traction limit with the OEM tires.
Position 1 - This position provides mid-level boost. Position 0 - This position provides minimum boost.
High-Octane Mode
If you fill the tank with 100 (R+M)/2 octane unleaded fuel, you can press the red switch located on the Turbo Toys bezel, and discover instant torque and power gains. The PCM will increase spark advance and adjust fueling to take full advantage of the 100 octane unleaded fuel. The red indicator lamp will illuminate when High Octane Mode is active. During High Octane Mode operation, the PCM prevents damaging detonation via the OEM knock detection system. High Octane Mode will be bypassed if damaging knock is detected. The red indicator lamp will blink when High Octane Mode is bypassed. Spark advance and fueling are returned to standard levels in bypass mode. The blinking indicator light can be turned off by pressing the red High Octane Mode switch. Entering bypass mode is an indication that higher octane fuel is required.
NOTE: It is recommended that the level of premium fuel be as low as possible when adding high octane fuel. The tank level should be reduced until the low fuel indicator is blinking and filled completely with 100 (R+M)/2 octane unleaded fuel before the High Octane Mode is engaged. The use of leaded fuels will cause damage to the vehicle's catalytic converter and oxygen sensors.
IF I PURCHASED THE STAGE 2 TURBO UPGRADE KIT WITHOUT TURBO TOYS DO I HAVE THE OPTION TO ADD THE TURBO TOYS AT A LATER DATE?
No, the PCM included with the Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade Kit without Toys (P5007967) does not accept Turbo Toys. A special PCM is being used in the Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade Kit with Turbo Toys (P5007863) that includes the hardware and software needed to operate Turbo Toys.
WHAT ARE THE CALIBRATION FEATURES?
Increased WOT and part throttle boost
To develop additional peak power and peak torque for the Stage 2 package, the boost was increased for wide-open throttle (WOT) conditions. The boost was also raised for part throttle conditions to enhance the drivability.
Improved turbo response
The Stage 2 turbo wastegate control was retuned for better turbo response. Not only will the Stage 2 deliver more torque and power, it will also deliver it faster.
Boost hold feature during WOT shifts
Keep the pedal to the metal, blip the clutch, and grab the next gear. Do it fast enough before the redline, and your reward will be a zero lag, constant boost shift.
Enhanced first gear boost schedule
The maximum boost in first gear is increased to deliver more torque and power to the road for a higher performance launch.
More aggressive exhaust note during deceleration
More pops, snaps, and burbles during closed throttle decelerations and between shifts.
Optimized calibration for the Mopar Performance Blow-Off Valve (P4510548) (sold separately)
The Stage 2 kit has improved the functionality, and the audible performance of the integrated re-circulation valve with the BOV conversion kit in mind.
Increased Rev Limit
The Stage 2 calibration increases the engines redline to 6500 RPM from 6240 RPM.
IF I INSTALLED STAGE 1, DO I NEED TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE STAGE 2 KIT?
Yes, the two kits do not share components.
WHY DO YOU REQUIRE A VIN NUMBER?
In order to keep SKIM (Security Key Immobilization Module) functional, each kit is programmed specifically for the customer's vehicle using his VIN.
CAN I RETURN THESE PARTS ONCE I HAVE ORDERED THEM?
No, the Mopar Performance Turbo Upgrade Kits are not returnable.
WILL REPLACEMENT/SERVICE PARTS BE AVAILABLE?
Replacement/service parts will be made available after the release of these kits. The parts that will be available include: the wastegate actuator, the 3.0 Bar MAP Sensor, the 3.0 Bar TIP Sensor, and the +30% Fuel Injectors. These parts will be released approximately two months after the release of the kit.
HOW DIFFICULT IS THE INSTALLATION?
Moderate mechanical and electrical skill is required. You can perform the installation with a small set of commonly-used tools.
WHO CAN I CALL FOR HELP WITH INSTALLATION?
Our technical assistance personnel will be trained on the installation of this kit. If a dealer/customer question can not be answered, the technician will investigate the answer to the question and follow up with the dealer and/or customer. Please refer to the phone numbers listed in Question #14.
HOW DOES THE INSTALLATION OF THIS KIT AFFECT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY?
Performance or racing parts are considered to be non-DaimlerChrysler parts. Repairs or adjustments caused or required as a result of their use are not covered under your vehicle's factory warranties. This information can be found in the Warranty Information booklet in the glove box of each new vehicle. Refer to Section 3. What's Not Covered.
WHY IS THIS PART NOT LEGAL FOR USE ON POLLUTION CONTROLLED VEHICLES OR VEHICLES REGISTERED FOR HIGHWAY USE?
The Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade Kits have not been emission certified or submitted to CARB (California Air Resources Board) for emissions exemption. Therefore, it does not carry an EO (Executive Order) number and is "Not legal for use on pollution-controlled vehicles or vehicles registered for highway use."
